Sternberg's triangle theory of love
Sternberg's Triangle Theory of Love proposes there are three components of what is typically ideal in the Western paradigm of "true love" and can potentially adapted for any kind of love. The three components (in purple in the diagram) are passion, intimacy and commitment/decision. There are seven possibilities when combining these with the culminating balance of all components being consummate love. The theory is dynamic as each of the components change over time.
